Before coming to Nan Art Studio, fully committing to art felt daunting because I had started later than some of my peers. I was scared of messing up, making mistakes, and experimenting with unconventional ideas and materials. However, Mr. Lee kindly and effectively guided me through the portfolio-making process, understanding my concerns and helping me build confidence in my artistic voice. He created a space where I felt safe to take risks and push the boundaries of traditional artworks. I appreciate how Mr. Lee encourages every one of his students to embrace their unique ideas and to have fun during the process. Through his feedback and encouragement, I began to understand that it’s okay to make mistakes and that without them I wouldn’t be able to grow as an artist. This shift in mindset drastically changed my perspective towards art-making and has encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone in not just the creative process, but in my everyday life as well. I can’t thank Nan Art and Mr. Lee enough for shaping me into the artist I am today, helping me realize that art isn’t meant to be perfect and polished but meant to be fun, free, and expressive.
